The price tag that the manufacturer, Microsoft, put on the Kinect is $150. But if you’ve been shopping around for one you’ll soon realize that you’ll see prices anywhere from $190 to $300. And that’s assuming that you can actually order one because almost every store, both online and offline is out of stock.

This situation has been created by the fact that Microsoft underestimated the popularity, and subsequently the demand, for the Kinect. So while they scramble to produce more of these amazing controllers, the price for them seems to be on a rollercoaster.

It appears that the going rate is around $200.00 (including shipping) on Ebay. And for now, this price seems to be holding on Amazon also. Although you can get some good deals on Ebay, you never really know who you’re dealing with and how difficult it might be to get service if there’s a problem with the shipment or the product.

My recommendation if you really want to get an Xbox 360 Kinect for Christmas this year, is to go ahead and order one now. You may be kicking yourself that you didn’t pre-order one when they were $150, but as it gets closer to Christmas, you could conceivably be looking at prices in the $300′s. And then the current $200 price tag will look cheap and you’ll be kicking yourself even harder
