Xbox 360 Kinect Customer Reviews

Reviews for the Xbox 360 Kinect are pouring in and it’s confirmed, the Kinect is a huge hit! There are over 400 5-star reviews on Amazon alone and the Kinect has only been available for less than 3 months. And actually, to give credit where credit is due, there are almost 600 reviews with an average rating of 4.5 stars. In fact, even the critical review voted most helpful gave it a 3 star rating.

Take a look at what some of the Xbox 360 Kinect customer reviews had to say:

For years my teens have enjoyed playing XBOX 360 games that neither my wife nor I could relate to (HALO, etc.). I purchased this controller and a 2nd game (Kinect Sports) and now the whole family can’t wait for that hour after dinner to enjoy a round of bowling, boxing, or even track and field competition. My wife and I are 50-somethings and this is the first time we have really enjoyed gaming with the kids. I am very happy about this purchase.

Simply a lot of fun, and gets my butt off the couch. Unlike the Wii, you’re actually going to have to exercise with this!

We bought the Kinect for Xbox 360 for use as a family game. For our sons, we got them Kinect sports, which has soccer, beach volleyball, bowling, table tennis, track and field, and boxing. They love it, and we love the fact that they are off of the couch and jumping around getting some much needed exercise during this long, cold Winter. For my wife and I we got the “Your Shape Fitness Evolved”, which is great because you can work up a pretty good sweat worthy of a true workout.

This truly is a revolutionary piece of equipment and will get you gaming like never before!

What’s With The Xbox 360 Kinect Price?

You would think that the answer to the question, “how much does the xbox 360 kinect cost?” would be a simple and straightforward one. But it turns out that it isn’t.

The price tag that the manufacturer, Microsoft, put on the Kinect is $150. But if you’ve been shopping around for one you’ll soon realize that you’ll see prices anywhere from $190 to $300. And that’s assuming that you can actually order one because almost every store, both online and offline is out of stock.

This situation has been created by the fact that Microsoft underestimated the popularity, and subsequently the demand, for the Kinect. So while they scramble to produce more of these amazing controllers, the price for them seems to be on a rollercoaster.

It appears that the going rate is around $200.00 (including shipping) on Ebay. And for now, this price seems to be holding on Amazon also. Since the prices are about the same, it’s probably a good idea to take advantage of Amazon’s excellent customer support and return policy. Although you can get some good deals on Ebay, you never really know who you’re dealing with and how difficult it might be to get service if there’s a problem with the shipment or the product.

My recommendation if you really want to get an Xbox 360 Kinect for Christmas this year, is to go ahead and order one now. You may be kicking yourself that you didn’t pre-order one when they were $150, but as it gets closer to Christmas, you could conceivably be looking at prices in the $300′s. And then the current $200 price tag will look cheap and you’ll be kicking yourself even harder :-)

Today’s the Day! The Kinect Release Date is Finally Here

For gamers everywhere, today is a banner day! November 4, 2010 is the day that the Xbox 360 Kinect controller was released to the public. And people have actually gotten a chance to try it out instead of just wishing they could. The overwhelming majority of reviews are positive.

It seems that Microsoft really has a hit on its hands. In fact, on Wednesday, Microsoft raised its sales forecast of the Kinect to 5 million units, up from 3 million. If that pans out, the company will sell perhaps $1 billion worth of Kinect systems and games by the end of the year.

Everybody’s so excited about it that both Oprah and Ellen gave an Xbox 360 and a Kinect bundle to their audiences.

The users of the Kinect, are loving how easy it is to set up. Initially, you have to teach the Kinect your body movements and voice, so you go through some exercises so it can learn your body and voice. Then you’re ready to play.

It turns out that the Xbox 360 Kinect, formerly named Project Natal, is just about everything it was hyped up to be. With its ability to recognize hand, body, and voice commands, it’s a definite glimpse into the future of how we will interact with computers. And in the meantime, it’s an incredible blast to play with!
